Realising the long term growth and potential of the Indian economy in the area of retail and hospitality, the Landmark Group has an aggressive expansion plan for India. The Group entered India in 1998 with the opening of its first Lifestyle store in Chennai a year later. As of June 2007, the Group has 50 stores across India, in the form of Lifestyle, Home Centre, Max, Fun City and international franchise brand stores. The Group has also forayed into the hypermarket business with the opening of SPAR hypermarkets in India, 2008 will also see the launch of “Splash” the international fashion retailer from the Middle East.
